About Us

We dream of a world that is more just and peaceful; a world where all have a seat at the table…

We dream of doing what God is calling us to do; being what God is calling us to be…

We dream of opportunities for our family members and friends to see the world through the eyes of the poor and vulnerable; to see the world through our eyes…

We dream of more support for social justice and advocacy efforts in our parishes, congregations, and community; more people doing the hard work of Gospel justice…

We dream of opportunities to sit in dialogue with others; for opportunities to share our struggles and our hopes for a better world…

The Center for Social Ministry or “CSM” is a 501c3 non-profit organization in Des Moines. The primary purpose of CSM is to encourage participation in poverty awareness and justice education programs, including the national JustFaith Ministries’ Programs – the JustFaith Process, the Engaging Spirituality process, and the JustMatters Modules – as well as, encourage participation in other programs or processes that provide Gospel-based, social justice education.

Why a non-profit that primarily encourages participation in existing national programs?

Because the JustFaith Ministries’ Programs dare to dream with participants for a more just and peaceful world; dare to invite participants to discern who they are and what they are called to do and be; dare to offer a look at the world through the eyes of the poor and most vulnerable; dare to engage more people in social justice/advocacy efforts; and dare to challenge every participant to be in active dialogue with each other and with the rest of the world.

The Center for Social Ministry is a member of the Catholic Charities, Diocese of Des Moines, Social Justice Consortium.
